ELIXIR Law Adopted by an Overwhelming Majority in the Chamber of Deputies

The Romanian Bioinformatics Cluster (CRB) welcomes the adoption by the Chamber of Deputies of the draft law regarding Romania’s accession to the European ELIXIR Infrastructure. The law was approved by a large majority, with 221 votes in favor, no votes against, and 72 abstentions.

CRB also expresses its appreciation for the support and favorable reports previously issued by the relevant parliamentary committees, particularly the Committee on Education and the Committee on Science and Technology.

This decisive vote represents a major step toward integrating Romanian research into Europe’s elite scientific network, facilitating specialists’ access to data resources, advanced computational infrastructure, and large-scale international collaborations.

The implementation of ELIXIR in Romania will accelerate progress in areas such as precision medicine, sustainable agriculture, and biotechnology, strengthening the country’s position on the global map of scientific innovation.
